CorumSpot Speed Trivia Rules

This is the game where points are based on question difficulty speed. Here's how this works. Questions are chosen at random out of our database and range from all sorts of categories including various sports, general interest, science and more. Each question has a base point value which is based on the difficulty of the question, decided not by me, but by previous players. Difficulty, and consequently the question score, is determined by people who get the answer correct compared to the number of times the question has been played, plus 10. The minimum base point value is 10 points, and the maximum base point value is 110 (New database questions that have never been played before always carry the maximum point value).

  • Example: A certain question has been played a total of 500 times in which only 300 people have correctly answered it. So the base point value for this question would be (100 x ( 300 / 500 )) + 10 or 70. Therefore, if you get this answer correct, you would be awarded 70 points.
  • But wait -- There's more! Since this is a timed game "point bonus factors" are used depending on which round you are playing.
  • Example:
    • Round 1 consists of 10 questions with 20 seconds to answer each one. Straight base points are awarded (70 points based on above example).
    • Round 2 consists of 10 more questions with only 15 seconds each. Base points are doubled in this round (140 using above example).
    • Round 3 has 10 more questions with only 10 seconds each. Base points are tripled (i.e., 210).
    • Round 4 is the lightning round. You have to answer each question in under 5 seconds. There is no question limit -- questions continue until you get a wrong answer. Base points are quadrupled (i.e., 280).
  • Bonus Points are also awarded during the lightning round which increase the longer you continue playing. Each correct answer gives you an additional 10 points times twice the lightning round question. So if you anwered 4 questions during the lightning round, you would get an additional 300 points because:
  • Q1 = (1 x 1 x 10), Q2 = (2 x 2 x10), Q3 = (3 x 3 x 10), Q4 = (4 x 4 x 10) or (10 + 40 + 90 + 160 = 300).

You may stop playing at any time and keep whatever points you've accumulated. If you don't know an answer, you may leave the question blank and not be penalized providing you still click the SUBMIT button. However if you get the answer wrong, the point value of the question will be deducted from your total. Questions that time-out (aren't answered before the time expires) are considered wrong answers and points will be deducted, or play will stop if you are in the lightning round.

You must register in order to play but, all information is optional, providing that at least one field is be completed.
